Los Angeles, CA, January 28, 2013 – Suzy Amis Cameron, Founder of Red Carpet Green Dress, and Samata Angel, Global Campaign Director, are thrilled to announce that Naomie Harris will wear this year’s winning design on the red carpet at the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 24th. “We are very excited to have Naomie aboard,” exclaims Amis Cameron. “She’s a spirited, intelligent, gorgeous woman with a strong sense of moral responsibility, and I believe she will represent us well.”
|You may have not heard the name Michael Badger yet—but you will soon as the 20-year-old budding designer is the official winner of the Red Carpet Green Dresscontest. ELLE.com has also learned that he is the first male victor, and his sustainable sketch was unanimously chosen by all four judges (Suzy Amis Cameron, Zem Joaquin, Lewis Perkins, and Vivienne Westwood). Westwood will also mentor Badger as he turns his idea into a gown that will be worn by an A-lister at 85th Academy Awards show in February (last year’s celebrity was Missi Pyle). The lucky lad will be flown to London to work with Westwood’s couturiers.|
We are excited to announce that we have our winner for this year! Michael Badger, who is currently working toward a B.F.A. in fashion design at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia is the unanimous winner. Badger was the only entrant that all four of the judges, Suzy Amis Cameron – Founder of Red Carpet Green Dress and co-founder of the MUSE School Ca, Zem Joaquin – Founder & CEO of Ecofabulous.com, Lewis Perkins – Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute and Dame Vivienne Westwood, all agreed on.
We understand that those of you who entered and did not win will be disappointed – please rest assured that the judges had an extremely tough struggle selecting the winner this year and it is not a job I envy them for. The calibre was so high this year – it just keeps getting better and it took them weeks to decide who the winner was. Each judge submitted a top 10 list of entrants and these were cross-populated. Michael was the only shared selection by all four judges making him the winner.
To all of the talented designers who entered this year please keep in touch with me about your exploits and stay tuned to the website as we will have some really fun projects launching this year which I would love to see you included in.
Many thanks for your support and for sharing your talents with us at Red Carpet Green Dress!

With guidance from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute we are seeking to meet that goal – this year and beyond. It’s about being a part of a continuously improving journey to toxic-free and eco-friendly fashion, designed never to go to landfill. Take a look!
